Nigerian Government has dismissed today media reports that state that Boko Haram killed more than 2000 people ahead of general elections on Valentine’s Day – 14 February 2015.
According to one of the Government officials, Boko Haram claimed up to 150 lives in North of Nigeria last week.
The official said that the higher death tolls being reported were the result of speculations and estimations pushed by media agencies.
The Boko Haram is exercising a reign of terror across Northern Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon, and has killed thousands of people in its push to create an Islamist state in Nigeria.
More than 200 girls abducted by Boko Haram from a school last year are still missing.
