Cadbury Dairy Milk has launched recently its Little Book of Joy, a baby naming book of authentic South African names. The launch followed extensive consultation with chocolate lovers who came up with first three most joyous names – Thabiso, Intokozo and Gcobani.
These three names were also used to name Cadbury Dairy Milk accapella-singing triplets – popular from the latest heart-warming TV commercial.
Thabiso is a Sotho name that means the one who brings joy. His extroverted nature and smile starts the party and keeps it going. Gcobani is a Xhosa name that means joyful. His joy is contagious and he always has a skip in his step and a smile on his face. Intokozo is a Zulu name that means joy. She lives on the light side of life bringing playfulness and joy to any occasion.
“These 3 names and many more have been captured in the Cadbury Dairy Milk Little Book of Joy, which celebrates South African names that radiate the happiness, positivity and generosity that represent the best of our national soul“, says Meredith Kelly, Mondelēz SA Category Lead for Chocolate.
The book aims to capture and share uniquely South African baby names along with their origin and meanings. It expresses the warmth of our country and celebrates the joy we feel when we name a child, the joy of being South African.
The Campaign started as a TV commercial featuring the “Joy” triplets which lead to the “Name the Triplets” social media campaign. The public was invited to log on to Cadbury Dairy SA Facebook page and share name suggestions for the triplets. At the end of the campaign over 19 000 name submissions had been posted on the page.
“We were delighted with the passionate and creative manner in which South Africans captured the essence of our message of joy, evident in the heart-warming drawings, the many descriptive name entries and engaging fan art we received throughout the campaign,” said Meredith
“South Africans are inherently joyful – we dance and sing to celebrate important occasions – and that’s something the ‘Triplets’ campaign has successfully tapped into. Cadbury Dairy Milk is the trigger to ‘Free the Joy’ that lives within each of us”.
