The Modimolle Regional Court has handed a heavy six (6) life sentences to Josaya Oupa Monyeki (34) this week for rape and robbery charges.
The ruthless convicted rapist grabbed women from behind, drag them into the bushes and rape them. He also threatened them with a firearm before raping and robbing them.
Monyeki will be in the dock again with another rape suspect, Frans Matome, next month where they will be facing two counts of rape and one of robbery.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Ntombi Dladla praised the excellent work done by the investigating officer and hailed the prosecution for a well-deserved sentence.
“We believe this sentence will teach other would-be rapists that the law is tough on crimes against women and children and as the police we will put out all stops to get to the bottom of every crime and ensure tougher sentences for offenders”, said Major General Dladla.
